Rebuke of the Terrorist Action in Boulder, Colorado

Terrorist Action in Boulder, Colorado

June 2, 2025

ree

Today, I speak with a broken heart and righteous anger over the terrorist act committed in Boulder. This heinous, cowardly assault on innocent life is not only an attack on our fellow Coloradans, it is an assault on humanity itself, on our shared values, and on the peace and liberty we cherish as Americans.

To the families who now mourn, to the wounded whose lives have been shattered, and to the community forced to walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I stand with you. Colorado stands with you. And the God of all comfort, who is near to the brokenhearted, weeps with you.

Let me be clear: This act of terror will not define us. It will not divide us. And it will not be tolerated. We must respond not only with justice but with unshakable resolve. Justice must be swift. The law must be upheld. And the people must remain united, not in fear, but in faith and determination.

I want to thank our courageous law enforcement officers, first responders, and federal partners who acted quickly, selflessly, and with precision to protect lives, secure the area, and restore order in the midst of chaos. Their performance was nothing short of outstanding. These men and women remind us that heroism is not a myth, it walks among us every day, wearing a badge and bearing the burdens of others.

We are a state and a nation that still believes in law and order, in right and wrong, and in the dignity of every human life. We must not allow evil to harden our hearts, nor must we allow political opportunists to twist this tragedy into partisan weaponry. The answer to evil is not more chaos or control—but moral clarity, courageous leadership, and the restoration of truth, virtue, and accountability in our public life.

As your next Governor, I will defend the people of Colorado with unwavering resolve. I will ensure that our law enforcement agencies are supported, not slandered. And I will work to restore a culture in this state where human life is valued, faith is welcomed, evil is named, and justice is done.

This is a moment for mourning, but also for resolve. We must never accept terror as the price of liberty. We must stand together, shoulder to shoulder, across counties, communities, and creeds, as one people under God.

May the Lord heal our wounded, comfort the grieving, and strengthen those who protect us. And may we, as a people, rise with courage to meet this moment, not in fear, but in faith, virtue, and freedom.
