The Absolute Right To Life:
From Conception to Natural Death
Bottom Line Up Front: The defense of life from conception to natural death is the cornerstone of all just government. As William Blackstone wrote: “Life is the immediate gift of God, a right inherent by nature in every individual.” And as Vindiciae Contra Tyrannos declares: “The magistrate may not destroy the innocent… for he is ordained as a minister of God for good, not evil.” We will not govern as though life were negotiable. We will govern as though life is sacred—because it is. In an age of confusion, compromise, and cruelty, let Colorado be a beacon of truth, mercy, and justice. Life is not a partisan issue. It is a human one. And we will fight—legally, politically, and morally—until every human life is protected in both law and love.
a. Moral Principle: We hold as inviolable the absolute right to life of every human being, from the moment of conception to natural death. This is not merely a belief—it is a truth rooted in divine revelation, natural law, and our nation’s founding principles. The Bible testifies that life begins in the womb: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you” (Jeremiah 1:5, NKJV). “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13, NASB). From fertilization, a new human being exists—genetically distinct, biologically alive, and morally significant. The Creator endows this life with unalienable dignity. The Declaration of Independence affirms that life is the first right among those unalienable rights with which we are endowed by our Creator. Without life, no other rights are possible. Thus, any deliberate act—whether by abortion, euthanasia, or negligent public policy—that ends innocent life is an affront to justice and to God. We reject utilitarian calculations that assign value based on age, size, capability, or circumstance. Every human life is sacred—regardless of convenience, cost, or stage of development. We stand, unwaveringly, for the legal and cultural restoration of a state where life is protected from its first moment to its last breath.
b. Constitutional Landscape: The 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the authority over abortion laws to the states. Yet the federal Constitution, rightly interpreted, still contains a foundation for life. The 14th Amendment guarantees that “no State shall deprive any person of life… without due process of law,” and it requires equal protection under the law for all persons. A just society must recognize the unborn as persons under this clause. Today, Colorado stands as one of the most radically permissive states in America, where abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy, where no protections exist for the unborn, and where the law—via the Reproductive Health Equity Act (2022)—explicitly denies that unborn children have any independent rights under state law. Such a policy is morally indefensible, constitutionally repugnant, and spiritually abhorrent. As long as state and federal courts fail to recognize the personhood of the unborn, it is the solemn responsibility of Colorado’s executive and legislative leaders to establish that recognition in law and practice at the state level.
c. Policy Commitments:

1. Legal Recognition of Life from Conception: We will pursue constitutional and statutory avenues to secure legal personhood for every human life beginning at conception. This includes working toward a Colorado Personhood Amendment, as well as passing trigger laws or life-protection acts that explicitly protect unborn life should federal protections be restored. We will move to repeal the Reproductive Health Equity Act, which denies all rights to the unborn, and enact a fetal homicide statute to recognize unborn children as victims when killed by criminal violence. The current refusal of Colorado law to acknowledge the homicide of a wanted unborn child (as in a violent assault against a pregnant mother) is a shameful miscarriage of justice.
2. Support for Mothers, Fathers, and Families: Being pro-life is not merely about laws—it’s about love in action. We will expand and fund Pregnancy Resource Centers that provide free ultrasounds, counseling, baby supplies, and housing assistance. We support tax credits for donations to these organizations and propose direct state funding for life-affirming services. Adoption reform will be a priority: streamlining bureaucratic processes, reducing financial burdens, and promoting a culture of adoption as both noble and necessary. We will work to redirect all state funding from abortion providers toward prenatal care, maternity housing, adoption services, and parenting support. No woman in Colorado should ever feel pressured to abort due to poverty, fear, or abandonment.

3. Reversal of Radical Abortion Policies: Current Colorado law bans even parental notification for minors and prevents common-sense medical regulations of abortion clinics. We will reinstate parental involvement laws with appropriate judicial bypass procedures and enforce health and safety standards on all abortion facilities equal to those required of ambulatory surgical centers. These are not “burdensome regulations” but basic protections. If an abortion facility cannot meet minimum medical standards, it should not operate. Women deserve better than dangerous, unregulated clinics protected by ideological legislation.

4. Protection of Life to Natural Death: Our commitment to life does not end at birth. We will oppose all efforts to legalize assisted suicide or euthanasia and instead invest in palliative care, elder support, and disability advocacy. Human dignity endures through suffering and age. We must never accept a culture where life is ended because it is deemed “no longer worth living.” The lives of the disabled, terminally ill, and elderly are sacred and shall be protected by law and uplifted in culture.
5. Building a Culture of Life in Colorado: Laws shape behavior, but culture shapes hearts. We will use the Governor’s platform to promote the value of large families, fatherhood, motherhood, adoption, and self-sacrificial love. We will support post-abortion recovery programs for women and men carrying the scars of past decisions, offering compassion and hope. We will address systemic issues that drive abortion—lack of housing, education access, or workplace accommodations for mothers. For instance, we will support policies that allow pregnant women to remain in school, complete degrees, or stay employed, so that no woman must choose between her child and her future.
