"I Am a Threat to Democracy” Because I Stand for the Republic

By Chaz Evanson, Candidate for Governor of Colorado

They say I’m a threat to democracy. They mean it as an insult. I take it as a compliment. Why? Because democracy, as they define it today, has become a mob rule masquerading as moral virtue, a tyranny of the loudest voice, a tool of manipulation dressed up in the language of freedom. It is not the system our Founders gave us, and it is not the path to lasting liberty.

Let me be clear: I am not a threat to freedom. I am its fiercest defender. I am not a danger to America. I am fighting for her soul. I am not attacking our Republic. I am trying to restore it.

Democracy Is Not Our Form of Government. Benjamin Franklin didn’t say, “You have a democracy if you can keep it.” He said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” And that was no accident. A Constitutional Republic is not a pure democracy. It is a government of laws, not of men, restrained by checks and balances, grounded in enduring truths, and designed to protect individual God-given rights, even against the will of the majority.

But what do the modern tyrants want instead? They want to redefine democracy into a weapon of state control. They want 51% of the population, or worse, 51% of the political class to dictate what’s true, what’s lawful, what’s acceptable speech, and even what your children can be taught in school or forced to do with their bodies. That is not liberty. That is mob tyranny.

I Stand With the Founders, Not the Mobs. Thomas Jefferson warned us, “An elective despotism was not the government we fought for.” James Madison wrote, “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention... and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” The Founders knew history. They studied the failures of Athens and the fall of Rome. That’s why they built something better; a system where truth, virtue, law, and limits matter more than popularity or passion.

So yes, I am a threat to the new democracy they preach. Because their “democracy” is nothing but a Trojan horse for centralized power, silenced dissent, godless mandates, and cultural collapse.

What I Fight For. I fight for the Constitution as written, not as interpreted by activists in robes or bureaucrats in Washington. I fight for unalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not government-granted privileges that can be revoked at whim. I fight for a return to self-governance, where the family, the county, and the citizen matter more than the lobbyist or the globalist. I fight for a Colorado of courage, not compliance.

The Truth They Fear. They call me dangerous because I speak the truth they’ve buried. They fear faith in public life because it reminds them there’s a Judge higher than the state. They fear men and women of conviction because we cannot be bought. They fear the Constitution because it exposes their lawlessness. They fear an awakened people because we are not so easily ruled. But fear won’t win this fight. Faith, virtue, and the courage to speak plainly will.

If Loving the Republic Is Treason, Count Me Guilty. I won’t apologize for resisting tyranny. I won’t bow to the gods of political correctness or the mobs of progressive rage. I won’t stop fighting to restore the Republic our Founders gave us, the one that honors truth, protects the weak, limits the strong, and preserves liberty for our children’s children.

So yes, if standing on biblical truth, constitutional law, and unalienable rights makes me a threat to their democracy, then I gladly wear that badge. Because I serve the Republic. Not the regime.
